Update: the York Press have covered this event – read their report here.
Around a dozen people gathered at the gates before City of York Council’s West Offices on the 7th November prior to the monthly meeting there of the Vale of York Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). The group were there to encourage the CCG to resolve the issues around the long waiting lists of patients for mental health treatment or attention, whilst the CCG had made millions of pounds worth of savings in that budget, leaving money unspent!
The messages of the day were ‘mental health not executive wealth’ and ‘mental pain is still pain’. The group consisted of service users, members of York Peoples’ Assembly, York Defend our NHS and concerned individuals from other organizations. Much public support was received by those passing, along with some of those entering the meeting. Questions about the mental health service and the budgets had been submitted and were to be raised during the meeting.
