Yesterday, students at the University of York held a protest and gathered petition signatures outside the institution’s main library. Its the first in what could develop into a new wave of action as the impact of the government’s student loan sell-off become more obvious. Those who have graduated with debts to the Student Loan Company could soon be told the terms have been ripped up and replaced.
Action for Further and Higher Education will continue on December 3rd with a strike, and its hoped this will be combined with a city-centre rally to defend education. We’ll announce whatever actions are planned as soon as possible.
