Austerity and Economics on Menu for Reading Group

Group member John writes: “Goodramgate’s Kafeneion Coffee Shop offered an unusual menu of stimulating conversation and topical exchange of ideas as York People’s Assembly’s Reading Group held its inaugural meeting on Sunday. The group started a journey of discovery on the topic of Economics, with the emphasis on understanding the basic language and terminology from texts provided in advance.

But of course this is the People’s Assembly so austerity was never far from the conversation. Alternative economic approaches from Denmark and Holland were discussed, and the work of Keynes and Marx flagged up for future examination. Join us at our next meeting – the tone is relaxed, the discussion informative and even the coffee is excellent!
