York People’s Assembly members will be amongst those meeting on Monday (20th) to plan for the national ‘Stand Up to Racism and Fascism’ demonstration to be held in London on 22nd March. History shows that racists will use an economic downturn to stir tensions. We need real solutions that benefit everyone in our diverse society – British bankers are to blame, not migrants and other vulnerable groups.
The meeting will be held at the TSSA offices on Nunnery Lane from 7.30pm to plan York’s mobilisation for this major event. This includes arranging transport, engaging with community groups and unions and getting the word out. Last summer, York showed that racism won’t be allowed to divide our community – but with the European elections this summer, the threat still remains.
