The ‘Better World’ march, called by the TUC to confront the Lib Dem conference with a real alternative to austerity, is now just over a week away. We know that thousands of people have got the message, and we’re hearing of people travelling from across the North and even a minibus from Lewisham heading our way. But there’s still time to build a bigger turnout from York. Can you sign up to spend an hour one lunchtime handing out fliers in Coney Street?
We’ll also be giving out fliers to passing commuters on Station Rise, outside the Aviva Offices on Wednesday morning from 7.45 to 9am. Even 20 minutes is a big help, so do drop by if you can. And our final neighbourhood fliering session is on Tuesday at 6pm, meeting outside the Heworth Post Office and Coop. We’ve had nearly 30 people involved in these sessions so far, but this is a final chance for more to take part!
On Monday night, we have our final meeting to prepare for the big day – and how we use it to build a bigger, lasting movement. We’re looking for a big team of volunteers for everything from gathering emails addresses to making teas and stewarding at Friends Meeting House afterwards. Our meeting starts at 7.30pm at TSSA offices on Nunnery Lane.
